The biggest mistake expecting mothers make is solely focusing on and preparing for birth and not for the time after. This isn't your fault! The baby industry likes to paint the picture that preparation happens up until the birth and then nature takes its course after that. Believe it or not, pregnancy is probably the most predictable part of having a baby! Once you welcome your little bundle to the world, anything goes. You will immediately jump into a whole new world where you have to learn how to to nurse and soothe your baby, heal yourself from birth and adjust to being a mom all at once.
You can't fully prepare for motherhood but you can certainly feel prepared. Do not leave your new motherly duties to instincts - they are important to have but will take you only so far. Instead, learn from mothers, health professionals and baby experts who have helped many mothers through the process before. Consider the 40+ speakers featured in this free summit your extended village. With the information shared in the summit, you will be able to lay the groundwork for your postpartum and get the insight you need to feel prepared for your fourth trimester and beyond.

1. Planning for motherhood goes beyond a birth plan
Birth is not the finish line, it's just the beginning. You focus hardcore for nine months, maybe even longer, on pregnancy and birth. You eat well, get massages, take classes and prepare birth plans... and then when the baby comes, you think "I'll figure it out." But birth is where it all STARTS. Once you give birth, you're a mother for the rest of your life. Let's prepare for it like it is!
2. It takes a village to support a new mom
We are not meant to mother alone. But nowadays, after birth, moms are left to their own devices for 6 weeks. A lot happens in 6 weeks and it is really tough! You can rely on motherly instinct to get you through the fourth trimester, but it will only take you so far. Just as you could figure out how to grow a garden by yourself, why would you do it alone when there are generations of gardeners before you to pass on knowledge? Learn the how to's from people who have devoted their lives to studying moms and babies and learn tips on how to grow your local support network.
3. It's not ALL about the baby
Whoops! Did I just say that? Before the mama bear in you comes out, you need to know that it's actually true! Yes, you want a healthy, beautiful baby. In fact, you did everything in your power to create that little being and give her the very best while she was in the womb. When she's out, it is easy to focus on her and forget about yourself but remember you just went through a life changing experience, emerging as a whole new person and deserve time to heal and adjust to motherhood! Learn how to nourish and heal yourself postpartum and set a strong foundation for the rest of your motherhood.
4. Chances are, no one has actually told you what postpartum is really like
When you talk to your friends who are new moms, does the conversation end with the birth story? Well, birth is only the beginning (see #1). Those first three months postpartum are tough but so crucial to healing your body, nurturing your baby and growing as a family. Postpartum challenges are less glamorous and triumphant than birth stories but they are the ones we need to know to create realistic expectations as new moms. Don't worry, we've got you covered!
5. There is no secret manual/magic button/crystal ball for postpartum, but if there was, this would be it!
Historically, we relied on a village or community to help us prepare for birth and to navigate the fourth trimester. Now we attend classes to determine our birth plan, understand the risks and complications and learn to breathe during birth. But there is a huge component of education missing! Chances are you don't have access to a thorough postpartum preparation class. That's why the Fourth Trimester Summit exists and why you're here! We've pulled together an all-star line up of speakers who are filling in the gap of knowledge you need for the fourth trimester.
No matter where you are on your motherhood journey (pregnant, new mom, nursing mom, mom to toddler...) you do not want to add another appointment on your calendar that requires you to pack up and dress up. Lucky you, the summit is ALL online and each session is available for 48 hours! You'll be able to attend in those comfy sweats, glasses on and a big bowl of ice cream kale on that tummy. That's right - no looking for parking, no going to the wrong location, and no finding a babysitter.
Never before has such a variety of experts come under one virtual roof. Postpartum, and the fourth trimester especially, is a stage of life. That means there is no one size fits all solution, there are not just three or four things to consider. Like birth, everyone's postpartum is different. The only way to support your vision of postpartum is to create it yourself. Create it by learning from the experts and craft your fourth trimester strategy. Be sure to download the Fourth Trimester Summit Workbook to help you pull it all together.
Between the birthing classes, books, car seats, strollers, diapers and new baby gear, your budget is pretty tapped out. I get it! That's why I've made it easy for you to get all of the information you need to enter postpartum confidently no matter what your financial situation. The event is FREE but for a limited time. Mark your calendar, sign up for email updates and fill out your Fourth Trimester Summit Workbook. Doing so will allow you to get the most out of this free event.
You read that right. We are giving away over $2,500 in raffle prizes! After watching each interview, you'll have the chance to WIN our speakers' books, courses, and favorite products. You will not want to miss any of the sessions!
What is the Fourth Trimester Summit?
The Fourth Trimester Summit is a gathering of 40+ speakers who will share what you need to know to enter motherhood with an "I can do this" attitude. You'll learn how to heal your body and mind, connect and nurture your baby as well as navigate the new relationship dynamics that come up for new moms.
Is this summit really free?
Yes, ma'am. This summit will be live and free for you to view from Nov. 9-18, 2016. All you've got to do is share your email with me and you'll get notification when the sessions are live. I believe wholeheartedly in giving every woman the opportunity to access this information because we deserve to give ourselves the best fourth trimester possible!
Will the information from this summit actually help me and my postpartum?
The short answer - yes. That's why I'm putting this summit on! The long answer - let me start off by saying motherhood is tough. We can use all the support we can get. No matter how many friend and family members you have to turn to, it is unlikely they will know about all of the topics covered and know what will work for YOU. Take a look through the Fourth Trimester Workbook (sign up to receive it), mark the speakers for topics you want to learn more about and tune in!
Where is this summit taking place?
Stop packing! The summit is entirely online and perfect for your less than mobile days. All you have to do is come back to this website to view the sessions live that day, or to make it super easy for you, I'll be sending daily reminders to watch the videos. All you've got to do is leave your email here.
Is this summit right for me?
Honestly, I created this summit for me. I asked myself, as a holistic, natural, intentional and research savvy mama, what are all of the topics I would have wanted to learn about to prepare for my fourth trimester? I am so thrilled that I get to share it with like-minded moms like you! You can take as much or as little away from the event as you'd like. You determine how "right" this summit is for you.
I can’t watch all of the sessions on their days. What can I do?
The summit will take place over 10 days where 4-5 video sessions will be shared each day. The sessions are available to view for 48 hours. If you've missed a session or are tuning in after the summit has already started, you won't have access to older videos. At that point, you can purchase the Super Mom Bundle to get access to all of the sessions, as well as exclusive bonuses and special deals from our speakers and sponsors. You'll learn more about the Super Mom Bundle once you sign up below and receive and exclusive offer!
I'm a holistic mama to a happy two year old girl. After a 34 hour natural birth, I experienced a (mostly) beautiful fourth trimester. After coming out the other side, I realized that not all of my friends had the same experience. I am hosting the Fourth Trimester Summit to support mamas in this often ignored period so they can heal wholly and naturally after birth and nurture their new baby with confidence.
This is the summit I would have wanted when I was preparing for my postpartum.
When I'm not wrangling spreadsheets or my toddler, I can be found writing for my blog, Lisa for Real, where I share my thoughts on fierce femininity, eureka moments, motherhood and lessons in self-awareness.
